Current Projects

Outlook Migrations: We are moving from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Outlook. IT will be contacting you soon -- as we have a completion goal of mid-November.

Luminis: Our new portal system will be up and running this Fall semester. Through the portal, user will be able to access Banner, email, and WebStar services from a single location. Click on the link above an sign in today.

Wireless: VC is going wireless. We now have active presence in 10 buildings, with more coming on-line each week. Our goal is a presence in every building by the end of the term.

Active Directory: The move to A/D is partner of a larger strategy to enhance our Single Sign-On structure. Centralizing these services will save time and money.

Other: New buildings; campus safety projects; energy efficiency projects; Microsoft SharePoint; resource scheduling solution; budget planning system.

College Technical Services (CTS), in collaboration with our sister campuses and district IT, develops, implements, and maintains Ventura College's technology infrastructure, provides coordination and leadership to advance technology across the enterprise, and guides policy creation and implementation.

CTS' responsibilities include: the provisioning and support for reliable voice, video, and wide-area network services to the campus and its satellite facilities; systems administration and enterprise application management; desktop computer maintenance; software support; and phone/voice-mail.

CTS reports to the Vice President of Business Services, and acts in active partnership with the campus community to provide the highest levels of technical leadership, support, and service.

4 November 2008, Firefox & Java Updates -- Leave your computers on, logged out, to allow our systems to update your computer with the newest version of Firefox and Java. This is to support the updates coming to Banner. The software update will start its push at 10PM.

28 October 2008, Critical Security Patch Update -- Leave your computers on, we've scheduled a critical update to address a flaw that could be exploited to allow a worm to spread without any user interaction.
