The Ventura College Foundation recognized nineteen students with individual scholarships of $1,000 each - double the amount previously awarded by the Phoenix Scholarship program.  The recipients are selected based on their applications, essays, recommendations from counselors, faculty and employers, and individual challenges overcome by these amazing re-entry students.  The Phoenix Scholarship program began in 1999 and has recognized more than 100 students and awarded more than $60,000 in individual scholarships.  The scholarships were presented by the Honorable Colleen Toy White at the January 23rd event in Guthrie Hall, hosted by the Board of Directors, and staff of the Ventura College Foundation.
